Unlike most belts on the market which are manufactured in Pakistan or China and use low quality 'chromed leather', we use only the finest vegetable-tanned leather in our belts. Vegetable tanning is a process which takes 3-6 months and results in leather which is supple, durable and will last a very long time. Chrome tanning uses harsh chemicals and chromium salts to convert the raw hide into leather in around 3 or 4 days. A lot of belts using chromed leather will last a year or two and usually start splitting and tearing at the holes. The bottom layer of the 'BEAST' belt is a red upholstery suede from an Italian tannery. Upholstery leather comes from the bottom layer of the split as it is the softest section.
