What Is Omega-3?
Omega-3s are essential polyunsaturated fats, meaning your body can't produce them and has to get them from food or supplements. The two forms that matter most for training and general health are EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), both found in oily fish and fish oil supplements.
EPA vs DHA: What's the Difference?
EPA is more directly tied to the anti-inflammatory effects associated with omega-3 supplementation, relevant to joint comfort and post-training recovery. DHA is a major structural component of the brain and retina, tied more to cognitive and eye health. Most quality fish oil supplements provide both, since they work through overlapping but distinct pathways.

- Anti-inflammatory support. Omega-3s influence the body's inflammatory signalling pathways, with research comparing their effects to standard anti-inflammatory approaches in some contexts.1

What Separates a Good Fish Oil From a Bad One
- Actual EPA/DHA content, not just "fish oil" on the label. A 1000mg fish oil capsule might only contain 300mg of combined EPA and DHA, the rest is other fats. Check the actual omega-3 content, not the total oil weight.
- Concentration. Higher-concentration formulas mean fewer capsules for the same effective dose.
